Novice Committees
New to the assembly of BUSUN XXIX, Novice Committees provide a more beginner-friendly, educational emphasis on various matters in the format of a General Assembly, making it a suitable environment for delegates just starting on their Model United Nations journey.

The General Assembly
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to sweep the globe, new technological transformations and integration efforts intersect with daily life. This includes significant impacts on the global labor market, as well environmental impacts from significant energy use. It is up to delegates to represent the international community in ensuring that the use of AI is sustainable, but also used as an aid to humanity.
Topic: Environmental Sustainability and Job Security in Response to AI
Chair: Khanh Van (Wiki) Nguyen, Henry Pham
ECOSOC
Many nations still face unequal access to clean drinking water. In this committee, delegates will address the route of this issue through sustainable and thoughtful initiatives targeting developing nations. Topics such as infrastructure, organizations, and distributions of resources can be discussed to help communities facing water scarcity to gain the access they need.
Topic: Access to Clean Drinking Water
Chair: Jonathan Thomas
UN Women
UN Women serves as an entity upholding and protecting women’s rights internationally, especially in nations where misogyny happens to take place more often. Misinformation as well as violence and actions against women and LGBTQ communities are still prevalent. Delegates will tackle gender and LGBTQ-based discrimination through informative, respectful, and responsive initiatives.
Topic: Securing Women’s & LGBTQ+ Rights
